Gov't announces July 1 as public holiday

The Ministry of the Interior has reminded the general public that Friday, July 1, 2016, is a public holiday.

On July 1, 1960, Ghana was declared a Republic with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as the country's first President.

The day has since been declared a statutory public holiday and is observed as such every year.

A statement signed by the Minister, Prosper Bani, said the day should be observed as such throughout the country.
